After nearly six years, the School of Public and International Affairs (SPIA) community is saying farewell to Dean Carissa Slotterback. This August, she will step down to become the next dean of the Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions at Arizona State University, a role that reflects the same commitment to public service that has defined her time here.
During her tenure, Dean Slotterback led the school through a period of growth and transformation, including the launch of SPIA's undergraduate program in public policy and the school's evolution from GSPIA to SPIA. In announcing the news, she spoke to what this community has meant to her.
"It will be so bittersweet to leave the wonderful University of Pittsburgh School of Public and International Affairs after nearly six years. I have so valued my collaborations with SPIA staff and faculty, the opportunity to support our amazing students, and my connections with alumni who are doing incredibly impactful work nearby and around the world."
