The Niehaus Center for Globalization and Governance (NCGG) at Princeton University's School of Public and International Affairs has announced the latest cohort of postdoctoral and visiting fellows. Among the list is Dr. Erica Owen, Associate Professor at Pitt's School of Public and International Affairs.
The NCGG was founded in 2004 with the three-fold mission of creating a large and dynamic community of scholars interested in the academic and policy dimensions of globalization and international governance, fostering integration among various parts of the social sciences at Princeton University, and promoting engagement with the broader academic and policy community. The Center has hosted postdoctoral research fellows since the fall of 2005, adding the visiting fellows arm of the program in the 2018-1019 academic year. Owen previously served as a Niehaus postdoctoral research fellow during the 2010-2011 academic year and is looking forward to returning to the Center in a new capacity in the coming months.
“This is the preeminent center for the study of globalization so I'm really excited to be engaged in the intellectual life there,” she said. “One of the main duties in addition to research is mentoring PhD students and postdoctoral fellows in the Center, so it's a great opportunity for me to learn from and work with some of the brightest new scholars in the field of international political economy.”
Dr. Owen is one of two visiting fellows chosen for the upcoming year. Her research will focus on how governments, firms, and workers navigate the political and economic challenges of globalization and technological change, including several papers on how offshoring and automation together transform firm production strategies and labor markets and reshape political coalitions in both advanced and emerging market economies.
