Chelsie Spinner is a PhD Candidate at the University of Pittsburgh School of Public and International Affairs. Their dissertation, “What is the Work and Who is It For?”: Understanding School Board Approaches to LGBTQIA+ Policy Development, is a qualitative study that examines how school districts with policies that support LGBTQIA+ students navigate a hostile state and national environment, the role of the community in school board decision-making, and how power and resistance show up in these areas.
