Ivan Odiit-Onapito

PhD Student

Ivan Odiit-Onapito is a Ph.D. student at the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Public and International Affairs. His research interests center on refugee policy, forced displacement, and refugee integration, with a particular focus on Africa. He is interested in how policies and institutional arrangements shape the experiences, protection, and socioeconomic inclusion of refugees, as well as the roles of governments, international organizations, and civil society in responding to forced displacement.

Beyond academia, Ivan has experience working with faith-based and development organizations serving refugees and vulnerable communities in East Africa. That experience informs his wider interests in humanitarian governance, sustainable livelihoods, and the role of civil society in development.
